Equipping for the Future
Isabel's Community Outreach (ICO) offers free education to the residents of Plano and surrounding communities. Our programs are designed to help men, women and children build self-esteem and a life of self-sufficiency. Our classes include English as a Second Language, Computer Literacy, Sewing, Healthy Lifestyles, and Cake Decorating.
Significant Impact
ICO, incorporated in 2004 has made a lasting and positive impact in thousands of individuals, families, the public school system and the community. Children are performing better in school, parents are communicating with their children and teachers, men and women are performing better at work and starting new businesses. The ICO community is experiencing a life of independence and self-sufficiency with dignity.
Founder and President
Isabel Garcia is the Founder and President of ICO. She began as a volunteer at Plano Children's Medical Clinic in 1991 interpreting for doctors and nurses to improve communication and enhance overall care of patients. As she perceived a strong need for helping depressed mothers, whose children were not thriving, Isabel organized classes in practical parenting at the clinic in 2002.
With the immense popularity of that program she soon decided to develop more formal classes in English and other life skills, and found a larger space in order to expand the program. She recruited teachers and others volunteers who conducted classes for the next seven (7) years out of a Hispanic church across the street from the medical clinic. Over the years, the school has expanded to nearly 10 independent classroom programs, and is now housed in their own private ICO facility in Plano, Texas. Please partner with Isabel and her husband Al in this effort to improve our community today.
